(Had to use Dorothy's famous quote.) Yesterday (4/17/12) we left Salina, Kansas heading north on I 135 which becomes 81 north. We made good time on a nice morning through beautiful farm country and cattle land. As we crossed into Nebraska the impressive scenery continued.
Near our destination we came to the major east west Interstate 80. We turned west.
Gramma's choice of RV place for two nights was near York, Nebraska. She took this pic of their distinctive water tower
The the park is "The Prairie Oasis RV Park and Camp" We liked the unique sound of their name.
The reason for our stop here is family history. Standing with us are Gramma's relatives Jack and Joyce Schultz. They are in their spry 80ies. They live in Grand Island. It was fun to have lunch with them (Joyce put out a Kodak-moment buffet. I should have taken the pic) and gather family info. You know the photog is Becca.
"Nobody's here"! Becca exclaimed this morning when she looked out the window. The summer camping season hasn't really started yet (does it have anything to do with tornado season??) Anyway we were the only ones in the park. Upside Gramma didn't find a crowd in the laundry room.
This is a nice little Good Sam park. Among their amenities is an underground storm shelter. We had thunder and lightning last night but no "Severe Weather" warning. We didn't need the shelter. Same forecast for tonight.
Tomorrow we move over to Omaha. Gramma has some family history contacts there. Fun side note--Gramma talked on the phone to our friend Marilyn Rose today. She and her husband Tom are serving a mission in Nauvoo. If things work out we'll go to church with them on Sunday.

I remember the relatives in Grand Island! They took us to their favorite steak place :)
I'm glad you had a shelter but didn't need to use it!
