This morning (4/13/12) we pulled the chocks and left the Great Plains State Park. We enjoyed three days of family history research, especially of the James line. We learned a lot but there is still much to learn. This OK park was well maintained. Ranger Bob was our jolly host.
We traveled east on 183 and 62, turning onto I44 in Lawton heading NE. Today we came upon a fact of life in the Midwest and East--turnpikes. Paying money to drive on highways which we are accustomed to drive on free, makes Gramma grind her teeth. On the upside, turnpikes are usually terrific. Our was today
We skirted Oklahoma City and headed toward Tulsa.
This was our exit. We turned right onto Hwy 66. Yes, the "Mother Road" again.

We had a little excitement this evening. This is tornado season in this part of the US. About 4 this afternoon there was a tornado in Norman, not far from here. So we found ourselves in a "tornado watch" until 9 PM. We scurried around and put together an emergency kit to take with us if a "tornado warning" developed. Neither lady was enthused, but they got ready. We would leave Bigfoot and evacuate to the nearby brick restroom building. It is now 9:30 and the warning has been extended to 4 AM (sigh). We've said our prayers. Please include in yours.

thats crazy. i could just see mom and becca trying to grab what was "important" to them. which i know is everything in that RV.
The lake is beautiful. Too bad about the tornadoes though.
