Aloha from the Salina (pronounced Sal-eye-na), Kansas KOA. Becca was thrilled to make the acquaintance of their "blufflow" (her pronunciation) family. Her fav was papa. She always likes the guys. Behind is Mama and baby.
Today (4/16/12) we left Oklahoma and headed north up "tornado alley"(The most common definition of Tornado Alley is the location where the strongest tornadoes occur most frequently and was first coined by Jennifer L. Wiley in 1904. The core of Tornado Alley consists of the Texas Panhandle, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska (all of the places we've been), eastern South Dakota, and the Colorado Eastern Plains.).
After leaving the Riverside RV place we traveled on several connecting state and county roads : Hwy 75 N to 166 W to 99 N to 400 W to 96 NW. In Kansas we took the I 135 N and a short way along I 70 E to this park.
We count the prayers on our behalf for our safety during the tornado watches and severe weather we had in Oklahoma. We had our sad little evacuation kits ready and are very grateful we didn't need to use them. The tornados continued north into Kansas. The local Wichita TV news show led with the tornado damage throughout the area. Salina is just north of Wichita. No damage in this park. And the blue skies and mild weather today gave no hint of mother nature's rampage yesterday.
Tomorrow north to Nebraska.
