Saturday 1/26 we went on a roadtrip with some of our winter ward folks to the Las Vegas Temple. Hwy 95 is about 100 miles of two lane, multi-dip adventure to get from Needles to LV.

The day was desert clear and the drive was a fun escape from our self imposed 57 day exile, Bigfoot was unhappy to be left behind but the Aura was happy to get a chance to log a few highway miles. One of our goals was to visit the distribution center. The gal that waited on us saw we were from Hawaii. SO WAS SHE!! Most of her Waimanalo relatives had moved to LV. She said that there were so many Hawaiians here that they referred to Las Vegas as “The Ninth Island”. Good fun. Before we went back, we had lunch at the Costco in Henderson. Hard to have a better day!
This is the view that the Runnells have of the Temple. They live just across the street. We didn't get to visit with them this time because they were holding a birthday party for one of their grandsons.

What beautiful pictures. I've been to LV several times and have only seen the temple there once. We have fond memories of that highway from Needles to LV. David still talks about it. He gets upset when the roads we drive on regularly don't have the same "bump-the-bumps."
those pictures of the temple are really nice. and what is that..no snow on the ground. that is crazy. i forget not everywhere is having the "great" weather like us. good times.
What a fun road trip! Sounds like a good reason to go to Las Vegas. I didn't realize that the Runnells were living there now. Fun story about the Ninth Island.
Looks warm. Just wondering if you were able to go in? I Also wanted to say HI to Becca, HI BECCA! Check out my blog.
I love those pictures!!! Las Vegas was a difficult time in our life and the only bright spot while we were there was the temple. That got me through some pretty rough times. I am so thankful for the temple and the amazing peace and answered prayers that can happen when you go there.
