Succulant #1 is a tiny flowering cactus with the most intricate beautiful spiny flower planted in a dove of peace.
Succulant #2 is in a ceramic vase that Gramma liked because it matches her color scheme.
We couldn't get a pine tree (and no artificial tree for us) so we got a Rosemary Bush in the shape of a tree. It is about 2 1/2 feet tall. It is real. It smells (not good but it smells) and we can put it outside on our patio. We bought the only string of lights for sale at Wal*Mart. Papa read the instructions and put the lights on the tree all by himself.
He called Gramma out to look at his handywork. When she stops laughing she may suggest to Papa that 150 lights may be too many for a 2 1/2 foot tree/bush.
But in the dark it looks kind of nice. What'd ya think? Mele Kalikimaka!

Papa when I stop laughing, I'll second Mom's opinion that 150 lights is too many lights. But you are right that it does look better in the dark. Thanks for sharing your new traditions. Perhaps a pine airfreshener or candle will help you find the scent you are searching for.

I love the rosemary Christmas tree and the lights made me laugh!!!! Great decorations, one year when I was in elementary school we got a potted pine because they were short on trees that year. Sometimes you need to think outside the box to make it fit your circumstances. Merry Christmas!!!
Heidi says that she loves the smell of Rosemary. We have a small bush in our backyard. Heidi uses it in her Rosemary chicken recipe. mm mm good!
Having seen the "tree" in person it does look better in the dark. We also like the flowering cacti.
