With the Weather Whiners

As you know we are enduring what SoCal refers to as their "winter". (Salt Lake and New Hampshire, not to mention the Rigby folks would laugh). It doesn't take much rain for the freeway accidents to multiply and interviewed drivers are upset with the rain which makes it difficult to come out of their driveways at 80 mph. They are "Weather Whiners" and I feel at home. Actually I am at home. This is the climate in which I grew up from age 5 to 27.
The local channel Weather Reporters seem to have gone to the Elmer Gantry (Google if you don't know) School of television announcers. Our favorite is Dallas Raines, a big blond guy gesturing broadly before the green screen. He loudly prophesies the weather with the help of a magic device called "Live Megadoppler 7000 HD", which appears on the screen behind him. "Here is the Low in the gulf of Alaska, barreling towards the Southland bringing the Mother of all rainstorms. (Can we hear an Amen?!) It is bringing with it Very Cold temperatures--with highs in the 50ies and at night lows down into the 40s. (Alleluia!!)"

"Here is a shot outside Bigfoot of the Big Rain--pretty intense--yeah?

On the distant San Gabriel Mountains is the SoCal snow which effects only those who choose to drive up there. For the rest of us it is a pretty background.

You are right that we aren't real impressed with your "weather" but we would be happy to have your "weather" here soon.
We did find great humor in your recap of the local weather guy. Perhaps he flunked out of preacher school and had to fall back on prophesying the weather for his career.

Ganon and I celebrate rain here because it means the temperature is above freezing. It's supposed to get up to 50 tomorrow. Horray!! I'm getting ready to bust out my capris!
